Important new edition of Child Welfare Watch!

on January 12th, 2012 in Uncategorized

Please check out the new issue of Child Welfare Watch:  One Step Back:  The Delayed Dream of Community Partnership, in which CWOP’s work receives much attention and support.

As you may recall, in 1998, Child Welfare Watch published a special issue: Race, Bias, and Power in Child Welfare.  At a time when the color of children in foster care was barely discussed in polite company, it was a game-changer.  Once the elephant in the living room is clearly pointed out, it becomes that much harder to overlook.

We believe this issue of the Watch has similar potential.  The NYC Administration for Children’s Services can most effectively protect children in partnership with their families and communities.  There is empirical and experiential evidence in support of this concept that cannot, and should not, be overlooked.  Because you believe in the capacity of even the most economically stressed communities to collectively address their own problems, with the support of public agencies, please read and share this important report.

Thank you for your believing in, and supporting, the work of CWOP.
